About Brendan Hollaway

Brendan is a current Boston Dynamicist who studied Computer Science at Caltech, and has a passion for robotics. He led the Caltech Robotics Team while also leading the software team of the Caltech Rocketry Team (PARSEC) in his years at Caltech. He has spent the majority of his time on autonomous control mechanisms and self-correcting code, especially as it pertains to computer vision and robotic motion planning.Brendan has already completed four internships. The first two focused on full-stack applications, the third on back-end API protection, and the last on machine learning.At Facebook, his most recent internship, Brendan designed a series of experiments to collect data to train a model used to predict user behavior based on complex user-user features and interactions. He analyzed and visualized large amounts of data in order to drive experimentation and optimize his model further.At Bloomberg after his sophomore year, Brendan designed a series of protections for an API providing access to sensitive information. He devised a method to identify clients of the service, dynamically assigning them permissions, and then enforced a configurable rate limit asynchronously to decrease response times.At Bloomberg after his freshman year, Brendan created a full-stack application, which displayed information stored in several different databases to the user in an easy-to-use web interface that was secured using 2FA.At Technology Kitchen, an Austin design firm that primarily creates embedded products, Brendan redesigned the user interface for a LED light controller, and reworked the messaging protocol on the backend to be compatible with an existing embedded light fixture.Technical Summary- Fluent in C++, Java, Python, and OpenCV- Familiar with ROS, C, C#, JS, SQL, Scala, HTML, Regex, and LaTeX- Some experience with CSS, Shell Script, Zipkin, and the Play!
