Academic Development Manager @The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners

NZ

As Academic Development Manager, I lead the curriculum review and programme development of the College’s accredited vocational training across the General Practice Education Programme (GPEP) and Rural Hospital Medicine (RHM). My focus is on embedding best evidence and contemporary educational practice into curriculum, assessment, and teaching frameworks, ensuring relevance, equity, and excellence across both urban and rural contexts.Working within a robust governance framework, supported by the GPEP and RHM Boards of Studies and the Academic Tāhuhu board, I lead working groups to update, design, and implement new programmes of delivery, modernise workflows, and drive system-level innovation. This includes developing learning frameworks, exam structures, pastoral care models, and teaching approaches that meet evolving healthcare and accreditation requirements set by MCNZ.I collaborate closely with Clinical Consultants, Clinical Leads, Lead Medical Educators, Medical Educators, Teachers, and Supervisors to ensure high-quality registrar education and support. Beyond academic leadership, I serve as business lead and product owner for the implementation of new student management systems, RFP processes, and digital transformation initiatives, achieving streamlined delivery, enhanced compliance, and stronger outcomes for learners.Whilst leading the Learning Team’s development projects, I work in partnership across Corporate Services, Equity, and Membership to embed cross-functional alignment, governance integrity, and continuous improvement, ensuring our vocational programmes remain future-focused, strategically aligned, and internationally credible.
