About Brendan Casey
As a Senior Scientist at Fermilab, I have over 20 years of experience in performing accelerator-based experiments that probe the fundamental laws of physics. My field of expertise is particle physics, where I measure the properties of elementary particles with unprecedented precision and test the validity of the Standard Model of elementary particle physics.I am currently the Program Coordinator for the Mu2e experiment, a multi-institutional collaboration that aims to observe a rare and highly sensitive process involving muons converting to electrons. In this role, I build consensus around program priorities, optimize resource allocation, remove obstacles, and communicate progress and challenges to all stakeholders. Before my current role. I was the Co-Spokesperson for the Muon g-2 experiment, which recently reported a groundbreaking result that is one of the most stringent tests of the Standard Model. I am passionate about developing state-of-the-art nuclear instrumentation, collecting and analyzing multi-petabyte data sets, and leading multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, technicians, and students from around the country and the world. My research is funded primarily by the US Department of Energy.

Aug 2016 — Present · Batavia, IL, US
I am the Program Coordinator for the Mu2e experiment. This includes building consensus around program priorities across multiple Divisions at Fermilab and the 39 international institutions collaborating with Fermilab on this experiment. I ensure that resource allocation optimally follows the priorities. I remove any obstacles that stand in the way of executing our mission. I communicate our progress and priorities to all stakeholders including Senior Laboratory Management, the US Department of Energy, and the Mu2e Collaboration.
