In this role I originate Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) lending for Reinvestment Fund. I work across the country to originate, lead lend, and participate in financing grocery stores, food outlets, and parts of the food system supply chain. I help deploy USDA HFFI funds, CDFI Fund HFFI, and other flexible finance tools to finance challenging, impactful projects that benefit underserved communities.

ABOUT BRENDAN BUTTIMER
My most important job is as a father to four incredible kids. They have been the inspiration for a later in life career change to Community Development. I have spent the last 20+ years developing businesses, communities, staff, and myself. I believe in the balance between collaboration, networking, and independent action. My background as an Historian fuels my understanding of how systems work, and enhances my analysis and strategic planning. My specific background has been focused on food access and healthy food financing, as well as small business lending, non-profit leadership, and using innovative financial tools like New Market Tax Credits to infuse capital into disinvested communities.
