President and CEO of the REACH Healthcare Foundation, a philanthropic public charity endowed in 2003 following Hospital Corporation of America’s acquisition of Health Midwest. Dedicated to advancing health equity in coverage and care for underserved people in the Kansas City region through community investment, convening, strategic partnerships and policy change. As the Foundation’s first CEO, work closely with the Board of Directors to establish and build an effective and transparent governance structure. Guide creation of all governance policies, accounting systems, investment policies, and grantmaking processes. Ensure compliance with the legal settlement that formed the Foundation, its Articles of Incorporation, By‐laws, state and federal certification, audit and tax reporting requirements. Oversee and annually review external professional advisory relationships, including legal, investment, audit, tax, compensation and public policy to ensure market-based fee structures and alignment with foundation’s objectives. Provide strategic direction to administer $135+ million endowment granting $5 million annually to area nonprofits delivering services in three priority areas designed to reduce un-insurance and improve health equity.
