About Brantley Ussery

After a nearly ten-year career in the broadcasting industry, in 2015, I made a career switch that has taken me into the world of marketing, public relations, and communications. For almost ten years, I was a broadcast meteorologist, responsible for communicating critical weather information to tens of thousands of people in central Virginia through multiple television networks, local radio partners, a thriving website, a blog, and several social media channels. I then transitioned to a position as an account executive with the Charlottesville Newsplex, which gave me experience in sales and marketing, while helping to grow the revenue streams for the group of stations. Primary responsibilities in this role included developing new business relationships by recommending strategic on-air and digital marketing campaigns to potential clients, in addition to helping grow the business of our current marketing partners.My switch into the realm of marketing, public relations, and communications has included time working at the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport and the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau. My primary responsibilities now include contributing to various marketing campaigns as they pertain to local tourism initiatives, media relations, social media management, website maintenance, and assisting and following through with group sales leads. Additionally, I make many meaningful contributions to the bureau\'s public relations efforts, including frequent interaction with travel journalists, planning and executing familiarization tours, and coordinating and executing weekly media interview segments with local tourism partners.In my free time, I am an avid runner, an adventurous chef, a photographer, writer, and lover of all things Charlottesville. I give back to the community that I love so deeply in many ways, including by serving on the boards of two local non-profit organizations: Red Shoe Cville & Wildrock.
