About Brangien Davis

I\'m a writer and editor, specializing in arts and culture journalism. Over the past 25 years, I\'ve curated editorial content and written profiles, interviews, previews and in-depth stories for a variety of outlets. Long-term positions include five years as a Senior Editor in Amazon books and movies, eight years as Arts and Culture Editor for Seattle magazine, and five years as Arts and Culture editor at Crosscut.com, where I’ve also produced a widely read weekly arts & culture newsletter for the past four years. In between these roles, I’ve freelanced for publications including The Seattle Times (a 5-year stint), Amazon Kindle and Wired and worked extensively as a writing instructor, book editor and arts event moderator.

Experience

  1. Arts and Culture Editor

    Cascade Pbs Formerly Crosscut

Mar 2018 — Present · Seattle, WA, US

At Crosscut, I set the editorial tone for arts and culture coverage. I manage and edit staff writers, freelancers and fellows with a keen eye toward surfacing untold stories and illuminating the issues artists face in this cultural and economic moment. For the past two years, I have project managed and edited the expansive Black Arts Legacies project, which showcases the long history and continuing impact of Black artists in Seattle. The connective tissue of Crosscut’s arts coverage is my ArtSEA newsletter, a weekly column (with subscribers) about the wide diversity of cultural goings-on in the Pacific Northwest.
