About Brandy Mickens
Brandy is a highly respected leader in the financial services industry and a trusted voice in both her profession and community. A graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, she began her career in financial services with a passion for helping individuals and families achieve long-term financial security. Early in her career, she played a key role in the development of the Retirement Benefits Group in Texas, a division focused on the unique financial needs of educators. Under her leadership, the group rose to become the number one RBG branch within Equitable Advisors. Within her first two years in the industry, Brandy earned recognition as the Dallas RBG Associate of the Year and received the Fast Start Award. She went on to build a personal financial practice serving more than clients and led a strategic partnership with one of the largest school districts in Texas, further solidifying her reputation for excellence and client-centered leadership.In 2014, Brandy transitioned into leadership as a Vice President with Equitable Advisors, where she focused on hiring, coaching, and developing financial professionals to help clients reach their goals. Her impact in leadership quickly garnered company-wide recognition when she was named the number two TSM for Hiring and Development in 2015. She was also selected to participate in Equitable’s Emerging Leaders Program from 2016 to 2018 and served on the Black Advisor Field Advisory Council, offering insight and guidance to financial professionals and advisors across the organization.Brandy’s consistent success and visionary leadership led to her appointment in 2020 as Executive Vice President of Equitable Advisors’ Mid America Branch, making history as the first Black woman to serve as an EVP within the organization. Alongside her business partner, she oversees offices across Ohio and Indiana. Under her leadership, the Mid America Branch has been recognized as one of the top ten branches within Equitable Advisors, earning the President’s Trophy in 2021, 2024, and again in 2025. The branch has also consistently ranked among the firm’s strongest performers and launched Equitable’s Impact Day Program, strengthening the company’s commitment to civic engagement and service. In addition to leading the Mid America Branch, Brandy served as National Director of Diversity for Equitable Advisors from 2023 through 2025, helping to shape strategies that advance inclusion, talent development, and organizational culture across the firm.
