ABOUT BRANDY BYERS

I’m an educational leader and scholar-practitioner with over 20 years of experience preparing educators and organizational leaders to transform systems through inquiry, innovation, and equity.Currently, I lead educator pipeline development as Director of Educator Development for a California district and serve as faculty and cohort lead for the Residency@TCSJ graduate program. I specialize in designing adult learning experiences that center culturally responsive leadership, critical inquiry, and systems thinking—equipping learners to lead meaningful change in their communities. My scholarly and professional interests focus on how small, intentional disruptions—what I call \"tiny shifts\"—can create big impact across complex educational systems. Whether redesigning credential programs, coaching leaders, or teaching graduate-level research and leadership courses, I translate theory into practice and ensure every learner understands how to apply their learning to real-world challenges. As a WASC Chairperson, CalAPA scorer, grant writer, and leadership coach, I’ve helped launch and grow equity-centered programs at the intersection of research, design, and social impact. I am excited by Benerd College’s bold mission and see a strong alignment with my values and vision for systems leadership in Sacramento and beyond.
