About Brandt Leibe
When a Fortune 500 company receives a target letter from the DOJ, when an SEC subpoena arrives on a Friday afternoon, when a qui tam whistleblower threatens to unravel years of business operations—those are the moments when my clients reach out. I’m a Partner in King & Spalding’s Special Matters and Government Investigations practice, and I’ve spent nearly two decades defending companies and executives through the highest-stakes federal and state enforcement actions in the country. My practice spans the full spectrum of white-collar defense: DOJ criminal investigations, SEC enforcement proceedings, False Claims Act qui tam litigation, FCPA anticorruption matters, trade and export controls, and state attorney general actions. I’ve led the global resolution of multi-agency investigations for household-name companies—coordinating simultaneous settlements across DOJ criminal divisions, HHS-OIG, Medicaid Fraud Control Units, and state consumer protection authorities. I advise audit committees on internal investigations, conduct FCPA diligence for billion-dollar M&A transactions, and defend companies facing suspension and debarment by the U.S. government and multilateral development banks. Before King & Spalding, I clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas at the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge J. Michael Luttig on the Fourth Circuit. I’m ranked by Chambers USA for White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations (2018–2025), recognized by Lawdragon as one of 500 Global Leaders in Crisis Management, and listed by Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500, and Lexology Index for investigations. I earned my J.D. from Yale Law School and my B.A. from Davidson College. If your company is facing a government investigation or compliance crisis, I’d welcome the conversation.
