About Brandon Juvani

Professional Interests: Sustainable Finance | ESG | Sustainability | CSR | Effective Altruism | Evidence-based Policy | Global Health & Development | M&E | Philanthropy | Research | Data | Poverty | Existential Risks I am a Finnish-American dual citizen and a recent graduate of Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where I completed a graduate policy STEM program focused on economic development. While at SIPA, I gained experience in international financial institutions, multilateral development banks, multiple entities within the United Nations system, sustainability, and ESG finance. Post-SIPA, I’m now most interested in working to help organizations become more evidence-based, data-driven, and as maximally effective and sustainable as possible. My professional interests concern ensuring optimal allocations of capital, whether that is through ESG, sustainable finance, and impact investing in the private sector or in strategic grantmaking, impact measurement and management, impact evaluation, M&E, and cost-effectiveness or cause prioritization research in the development sector. Before SIPA, I had graduated cum laude from Columbia University in 2020 with a bachelor\'s degree in sociology. There, I was a nontraditional and first-generation college student from a low-income and working-class background. I transferred after taking a gap year and attending community college in my hometown of Orlando. Before transferring, I graduated summa cum laude with an associate\'s degree; worked at an INGO in Washington, D.C, while attending George Mason University in an exchange program; and completed a service year in AmeriCorps at an affordable housing nonprofit. While attending Columbia as an undergrad, I worked abroad at a startup social enterprise in Mumbai, studied abroad in both Santiago de Chile and Paris as a U.S. DOS Gilman Scholar, and became involved in impact consulting and effective altruism organizations on campus. Upon graduating and during the pandemic, I worked on U.S. political campaigns.
