About Brandon Sherman
I am a practicing data scientist and statistician with deep intellectual curiosity and an eclectic variety of interests. My formal background is in statistics, so naturally I am interested in drawing insights and making predictions with data. I can do this with any combination of statistics, data science, data mining, machine learning, and natural language processing.I was most recently a Senior Data Scientist - Product at Indeed. I helped people get jobs by performing data analysis on the Match Recommendations Platform Team, where we matched good fit jobs to millions of job seekers.I earned a Master of Statistical Practice (MSP) from Carnegie Mellon and a BS in Math and Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh. My graduate school training focused on applied statistics and presenting complicated statistical results to non-experts.

Data Scientist Ii - Cost Prediction

Xometry uses machine learning and AI to provide an instant quote for pricing custom manufactured parts.* Led effort to successfully train and deploy a model for Xometry\'s second-largest process that decreases cost RMSLE by 6.5% compared to the existing solution.* Made architecture changes to Xometry\'s largest process that decreased cost RMSLE by 10.2% compared to the existing solution* Designed and executed a plan for determining whether to partner with a new data provider. Determined that the new provider\'s data would not improve model performance and convinced the business to not partner with them.* Provided support for a model intended to support 71% of Xometry\'s orders. Rewrote code originally written for a research project to be performant and well-documented, and to support new use cases.* Ported a five-year-old model to Xometry\'s new machine learning platform
