Mechanical Technical Lead of Lightcast’s next generation microfluidic Cartridge.Responsible for concept development, detailed design and scale-up of a challenging microfluidic consumable, covering a broad range of activities- Design for injection moulding and compression moulding- Design for plastic laser welding- Converting rapid prototype concepts to production ready design solutions- Complex fluidic routing and sealing interface design- FEA subject matter expert, leveraging years of simulation expertise to ensure t0 parts meet challenging functional requirements, reducing cost and development times significantly- Travelling overseas to develop business relationships with critical suppliers in China, Korea and Japan- Championing value engineering principles to maximise Cartridge function and usability whilst significantly reducing consumable COGS to move towards a commercially viable product offering- Developed subsystem test fixtures to verify Cartridge performance and heavily involved in integration testing of the Lightcast platform, working cross-functionally with microfluidics, science, software and manufacturing teams
