About Brandon Olszewski
I\'m a social psychologist interested in leading and researching today\'s best educational innovations. I\'m driven to understand what works in education - specifically, what kind of pedagogy and technology, for which learners, and in what contexts. I think that life is a complicated mix of opportunity, background, effort, social forces, and random error. In my work, I try to shed light on that blend and what we in education can do to support the best opportunities and impacts for lifelong learners. I direct projects that focus on edtech, the learning sciences, adult and workforce learning, the user experience, professional development, and product usability. I manage mixed-methods research projects and program evaluations specializing in edtech, digital age learning, and STEM education. I have managed and supported work on projects across sectors, including the U.S. government (NSF, U.S. DoED), state departments of education, local schools and districts, and private companies and foundations. For years, I also taught through the University of Oregon\'s Department of Sociology, constantly striving to find more engaging processes for face-to-face, online, and blended learning modalities. In my current role, I support a broad range of activities including data analysis and technical writing, project management, business development, instructional design, and generally trying to find the smartest solutions available for whatever problems are in front of my team.
Experience
Senior Director of Research
Oct 2024 — Present · Arlington, VA, US
As ISTE\'s research & development portfolio grows, I lead the planning and implementation of research and evaluation projects in education, with a focus on edtech. I advise on go-to-market product development for both internal teams and edtech companies. Everything we do at ISTE R&D puts both the end user and equity at the heart of our work.
