About Brandon Oliver

Brandon Oliver is an Oakland, California native who graduated from Howard University in 2020 with a B.A. in strategic, legal, and management communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in mathematics. Brandon is a diligent, reliable, enterprising, inspiring individual who, upon entering the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, took every opportunity to immerse himself in the communications field. During his time at Howard University, Brandon was the president of the Howard University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (HU PRSSA) for two years in a row and a student advisor for Howard University\'s Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). He was also a member of the Howard University chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), the Howard University Association of Black Journalists (HUABJ), and the IPG Adopt-A-Team. One of Brandon’s proudest collegiate achievements was revitalizing Howard University’s PRSSA Chapter and increasing membership by over 250% during his first year as president. This achievement also led to him being awarded the 2019 PRSSA Service Award in recognition of outstanding service to the chapter. Today, Brandon works as an assistant account executive at GMMB, a stellar, full-service communications firm located in Washington, D.C. on the beautiful Georgetown Waterfront. Here, Brandon has had the opportunity to further develop his communications expertise and work with a multitude of diverse clients from healthcare associations and organizations to religious orders to conservation organizations, educational organizations, cradle-to-career organizations, and a plethora of other non-profits and foundations working to make the world a better place. Something Brandon personally prides himself on is being a part of Oakland Promise, a place-based, cradle-to-career organization located in Brandon\'s home of Oakland, CA. Brandon is a 2015 graduate of Oakland Tech High School and was an Oakland Promise scholar as he matriculated through Howard University. Now, as an alumnus of the Oakland Promise, Brandon has had the opportunity to speak on the organization\'s behalf, on numerous occasions over the years, and share his story and thoughts on the benefits and importance of the organization. Brandon has a passion for using his public relations, writing, social media, branding, and other communications skills to benefit clients, help them achieve their goals, and have a profoundly positive impact on any and every organization he works with both personally and professionally.
