ABOUT BRANDON OLESH

Survey fraud doesn’t show up how most researchers expect. It rarely looks chaotic or broken. More often, it looks clean, consistent, and easy to trust.Fraud usually appears in subtle patterns that only emerge when you look at the dataset as a whole, not as a series of isolated checks.I work with survey data in that uncomfortable middle ground: data that may technically pass validation but still behave in ways real human data shouldn’t.My work sits at the intersection of- Fraud detection and prevention- Questionnaire design- Third-party validation tools- Judgment under uncertainty- And building toward AI-driven systems that help scale expert fraud judgment across complex datasetsI don’t believe fraud is something you “solve”.It’s something you manage, where judgment matters as much as detection and being wrong has real consequences for the insights that follow.
