About Brandon Major

I’m a cloud and network infrastructure engineer with over a decade of experience designing and operating large-scale systems across telecom, financial services, and government environments.Recently my work has focused on solving complex infrastructure problems through architecture, automation, and observability across AWS and Oracle Cloud.Later in my telecommunications career, I led vendor certification testing and technical validation for platforms from companies such as Ciena and Palo Alto, while also supporting similar efforts involving Cisco, Nokia, Infinera, Juniper, Fortinet, and JFrog. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how enterprises evaluate vendor technologies and validate real-world performance before deploying them in production.At SoFi, I worked on several interesting projects. One notable example was designing and implementing a fully automated AWS telemetry and logging pipeline that identified, normalized, and streamed infrastructure and service logs into Splunk using Terraform and Python-based automation.During my time at NTT, I traveled internationally working with infrastructure vendors and engineering teams on network planning and technology validation initiatives. I also collaborated regularly with Tier-1 ISPs and colocation providers on deployment solutions for customers including Amazon, Facebook, and Fastly.I tend to gravitate toward work that sits at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and complex problem solving—understanding systems deeply and helping teams design solutions that work in real environments. I try to approach new technologies and systems with a beginner’s mindset, staying curious and focused on understanding how things actually work before trying to improve them.
