Over the years, Heather, my spouse, and I searched for homeopathic remedies for a number of ailments throughout our family. The hemp plant\'s benefited the human body for thousands of years (do the research). During this time (20+ years) I\'ve also had a zest for the legalization of hemp and marijuana, the decriminalization of drugs, and prison reform; subsequently, this sparked a fire in me to found and lead Aspen Green with my lifelong friend, Kyle Chong, his wife Valerie (who\'s passionate about toxic-free products), and Heather. The people of the US need to demand and elect forward-thinking officials to reform our antiquated drug laws and abolish our private prison system, which by default perpetuates punitive sentences for approximately 80% of the estimated 3.2M prisoners in the US.(In 1980 we had a population of approximately 274M with roughly 280K in our prisons and jails. Today our population is approximately 325M with an estimated 3.2M people incarcerated.) The people need to know that Thomas Jefferson and George Washington owned hemp farms, and that hemp was widely used for textiles and medicinal purposes through WWII. Furthermore, Randolph Hearst (the newspaper mogul) owned tree farms, and hemp-derived paper negatively impacted his business; consequently, he coined the term \"reefer madness\" and led the propaganda in newspapers that depicted a white woman smoking marijuana, and when she did, she ended up with \"the black or brown man\".(Yes, this really happened.) Then we have President Nixon declaring a War on Drugs in 1971 due to the \"hippies\" revolting against The Vietnam War. Well, it\'s been 50 years, and it\'s a failure. One cartel boss goes down and another replaces him immediately. And our country wonders why we have an immigration problem? Perhaps the reality is it\'s because we\'ve empowered the drug cartels to slaughter and hold hostage the citizens of Central and South America; consequently, they cannot live in safety. Let\'s evolve.
