Manage Hazardous Waste Management Program in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines-Coordinate with hazardous waste vendors and Arcus staff to carry out:*Weekly hazardous/medical waste pick ups*Decontamination of areas affected by incidental spills*Lab packs for disposal of non-routine hazardous wastes*Chemical moves between Arcus buildings-Ensure DOT compliance for hazardous waste profiles shipped offsite -Manage Medical Waste Management program and educate researchers on MWMA regulations-Perform safety inspections with lab personnel to promote safe research practices and proper waste management (hazardous, medical, and radioactive waste)*Provide additional support to staff on implementing corrective and preventative actions-Train new employees and provide annual refresher trainings on Arcus’ Bloodborne Pathogens Safety and Injury and Illness Prevention Programs*Update training slides regularly to address any observed safety or compliance concerns-Implement and train staff on safe research policies for higher hazard processes-Complete biennial hazardous waste reports for Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)-File hazardous waste manifests and medical waste tracking documents-Complete annual CERS reports across all lab research buildings by updating:*Hazardous materials inventory*Site maps detailing emergency equipment, emergency assembly points, primary and secondary evacuation routes*Emergency response/contingency and employee training plans-Calculate number of full time equivalent (FTE) employees as part of annual OSHA 300 reporting-Coordinate recertification and recalibration of exhaust equipment (fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, incubators, etc.) across all research labs-Perform swipe tests on incoming packages and radiation work areas on to spot check for contamination-Create and post signs outside labs detailing lab hazards for all individual labs-Actively manage roster for lab coats and prescription safety glasses
