ABOUT BRANDON FOSTER
The paradox of education is precisely this- that as one begins to become conscious, one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated.” (Baldwin) This quote exemplifies what pushes Brandon to fight for equity and access for all students, especially those from communities that have been historically marginalized.Brandon received his Doctorate at Harvard University in 2023 and was a prominent asset to the Harvard Teacher Education Program. While in Cambridge, he was also a Teaching Fellow under the guidance of Professors Monica Higgins and Pamela Mason. He assisted with designing the course framework for \"Leading Change\" at the Harvard School of Education. Additionally, Dr. Foster is a highly sought after speaker, keynote, professional development expert, and a regularly featured panelist. He has also consulted for educational nonprofits such as the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color (COSEBOC), Scholastic, and Learners Center Collaborative.In 2022, Brandon partnered with the Ferguson-Florissant School District, located in a suburb of St. Louis Missouri, for his residency as Special Assistant to the Superintendent. While there, he implemented a project that focused on improving academic achievement through an innovative peer-to-peer tutoring model that leveraged community partnerships to inspired students, teachers, and leaders to reach their highest potential in an equitable and sustainable way. While at Boston Public Schools in 2021, Brandon served on the Leadership Cabinet focused on system changes where he assisted in revamping Credit Recovery, and expand Summer School Programming to provide thousands of students with access to high quality instruction, experiential learning, and healthier fresh food options. Brandon was also recognized as the 2018 \"Outstanding Educator of the Year\" by the African American Education Archives and History Program. Brandon helped lead two of the lowest-performing schools in the city from an “F” to a “C” rating in two years. As a Regional Director of Instructional Coaching for IDEA Public Schools, he coached first-year Assistant Principals and helped with the successful launch of two schools. In addition to his school/district leadership experience, Brandon leveraged his passion for educational technology and instructional coaching as an inaugural member of EdChoice Navigator Network. As a consultant, Dr. Foster has worked with organizations to redesign teaching methods while implementing project-based learning curriculums that prepare students to acquire 21st-century learning skills.
