ABOUT BRANDON BROWN
Through my experience with Morehouse College and the University of Georgia, I\'ve conducted public health research at the University of Georgia Developing novel methodologies for testing cognitive and sensory function in infancy through older adulthood populations; consulted with and advised physicians, educators, researchers, and others regarding improving the Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) initiative, which exists to provide and improve access to diagnosis, education, and support for those at risk for or living with dementia. I’ve also conducted public health research at Morehouse School of Medicine on exploring the risk of social determinants of health and the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease with the focus on promoting awareness of different evidence supporting eating patterns and dietary content that promote long term cardiovascular wellness. Even this past year I conducted biomedical research at Morehouse college on osteochondral tissue engineering tailored towards OA pathology, more specifically, how thrusts are aimed at constructing novel thermoresponsive antioxidant injectable hybrid gels that will replace existing viscosupplementation treatment options and subsequently reduce reactive oxygen species by blocking the inflammatory response affiliated with OA. Through these research experiences, I have learned how to collect and analyze biological data about relationships among and between organisms and their environment. I also analyzed data and presented findings in addition to learning how to plan and direct studies to investigate human disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease. My experiences conducting biomedical and public health research have been an absolute dream come true. Working in these labs has been truly transformative. My experience as a student researcher has sharpened my skills in scientific and public health research, paying great attention to detail, and data collection which are three abilities that will help me succeed as an intern
