ABOUT BRANDI BICKFORD
My main focus at present is on Digital Pathology, also know as virtual imaging. On an intellectual level this is important to me as I really believe that it improves patient care and expedites research to actualize new methods of patient treatment. It allows me to move among all of the medical professionals here at the medical center, though primarily of course with pathology and forensic cases, I am also privileged to work closely with many fine researchers and surgeons in regenerative medicine and cancer biology, as well as experience the excitement and energy that the graduate students and residents bring as they learn new techniques and embrace new technology. On a more personal level, born an artist is not something you ever overcome. I have been involved in the performing arts and visual arts since I can remember existing. It is like breath to me. This field allows me to combine both my love of science and medicine and my natural inclination to be an artist. Though of course I do much more, I have managed to decorate large areas of the hospital with my \"art\",which the world that exists, but is just under my microscope,My personal work ethic embraces four criteria:1. Embrace change. To quote Einstein, “If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got.”2. Innovation is the appropriate response to most challenges we encounter. “No, can’t do it” just never seems like the correct answer. There is a way, and finding it is kind of fun, usually.3. Passion, if I cannot be passionate about doing it, then I am not the person who should be doing it. Patient persistence, respect for others. Hundred pound women frequently have total control over 1600 pound horses. It took a whole lot of gentle patient persistence and respect for the other but what a beautiful team in motion!
