About Budnampet Ramanudom

Feel free to call me Pet! I\'m a senior at Wellesley College studying both Computer Science and Women and Gender Studies (classic liberal arts move), looking for full-time opportunities in the Tech industry. While seemingly disparate, I argue that there exists an intersection between technology, logic, problem solving and social structures, people, and narratives. As our lives become increasingly more connected with technology, exploring the intersection between these two disciplines is vital to developing a future that truly benefits society. That is, in order to develop real solutions for real people facing real problems, we must center social impact when creating and utilizing new technologies. I currently straddle both the academic and industry worlds, but hope to one day find a career that allows me to tap into both of my interests. A lot of my experience is currently within the world of CS Education and CS in the non-profit sector (Technovation/GirlsWhoCode/Teaching Assistant work). I\'ve also been able to dip my feet into academia as a student researcher at the Wellesley Center for Women, under the guidance of Dr. Linda Charmaraman, for a project that looks at online communities and televised media. In addition, I have been able to hone my technical skills through hackathons, personal projects, and internship experience at Google as a Software Engineer.
