ABOUT BRAM DE WINTER
I’m a planetary geologist and DPhil researcher at the University of Oxford, driven by a simple question: how do planets form and evolve? My work sits at the intersection of experimental petrology, isotope geochemistry, and planetary science. I study how elements like magnesium and silicon behave under extreme, high-temperature conditions, helping to unravel the processes that shaped Earth and other terrestrial planets from their earliest stages. I combine hands-on experimental work with computational approaches, including molecular dynamics and first-principles modelling, to build a clearer picture of planetary interiors and magma ocean processes. In addition to research, I am actively involved in the global space community via the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). There, I have led international teams, collaborated across various disciplines, and helped shape future space initiatives. I’m always eager to connect with curious minds, whether in academia, industry, or the space sector. I also welcome seminars, guest lectures, and speaking engagements, and I truly enjoy sharing science in an accessible and engaging manner.
