About Brad Obrien
I am a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience leading organizational growth, building strong teams, and fostering community engagement across diverse contexts. My career has centered on launching and scaling initiatives, managing complex operations, and cultivating partnerships that strengthen both local communities and global networks. At Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, NC, I founded and grew multiple programs—including a multi-site campus near Duke University, a large-scale student leadership pipeline, and international partnerships that mobilized teams around the world. These initiatives required strategic planning, budget oversight, cross-cultural coordination, and talent development to sustain long-term impact. In 2013, I planted a new church in downtown Baltimore that grew from a grassroots start-up into a revitalized institution through a merger with a historic church founded in 1854. I also served in civic leadership roles, including Public Safety Chair for the Federal Hill Neighborhood Association and President of the Baltimore Police Department’s Community Relations Council, where I led volunteer teams in securing over in grant funding to improve neighborhood safety and quality of life. Most recently, I served as Executive Director of Libre Retreats, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the well-being of faith leaders. There I combined operational management, donor engagement, and program design to create sustainable avenues for impact.I bring vision, entrepreneurial drive, and a proven ability to build mission-driven organizations. My strengths lie in connecting with people, asking thoughtful questions, and listening deeply to inspire collaboration. Whether in nonprofit leadership, community development, or marketplace ventures, I am committed to creating environments where people and organizations can thrive.

Jefferson Vineyards carries forward Thomas Jefferson and Philip Mazzei’s original vision for Virginia winemaking on historic land just south of Monticello. Today, the vineyard is celebrated as one of the region’s most consistent producers, crafting award-winning wines such as its signature Viognier, Petit Verdot, and Meritage blends—recognized with multiple gold medals, Governor’s Cup honors, and praise from Wine Spectator. As part of the tasting room team, I help welcome guests into this legacy, guiding them through our celebrated vintages while sharing the story of a winery that bridges centuries of history with modern excellence. Jefferson Vineyards remains at the heart of the Monticello Wine Trail, offering both locals and visitors a taste of Virginia’s premier wine region. For me, the connection is also personal: my ancestor Anthony Mullins was among Philip Mazzei’s original team members, making my role at Jefferson Vineyards a continuation of a family story that began with the very roots of Virginia wine.
