Responsible for developing the team’s culture and skill levels, hiring and building out the team, implementing performance improvement over time, and guiding the career path of all team members- Own the stateless shopping architecture for lodging partner API integrations, responsible for 30k QPS. Lead microservice design decisions, AWS architecture and best practice adherence. Perform post-merge code reviews, refine coding best practices, and moderate open forums for best practices and system design- Lead content, pricing, and booking API integrations to external partners within the Expedia platform. Collaborate with stakeholders from both commerce and end-user sectors to assure proper business needs are met in the integration. Accelerated program by decreasing partner integration times and increased integrations by 3x over two years- Led an effort to reduce costs by streamlining message queuing. Reduced the amount of data sent through our message queue by leveraging encoding protocols. Reduced the cost of the message queue tier by 40%- Partnered with VRBO and Expedia Pricing development teams to design and implement customer-centric solutions for card-on-file and payment schedules on the Expedia platform. Features developed resulted in a decrease in service charges and booking loss by $3.6 million- Manage on-going contracts and lead planning, scoping, and management of both on-site and off-shore vendor teams- Led an effort to improve processes and microservice architecture within AWS to reduce alerting and increase service uptime. Improved uptime by dynamically identifying unhealthy instances and eliminating them. Our solution to eliminate unhealthy instances prevents unnecessary queue backup and resulted in improving our uptime to 99.9%.
