   Our core mission is to promote and support animal-assisted therapy and activities for K-12 students in North Carolina public schools to enhance academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. The work PPNC does is intentional and goal-directed. Each of the therapy teams is fully certified and works closely with the school social workers and/or counselors to match them with students who have challenges and to plan appropriate interventions. Benefits have been demonstrated in reading comprehension and fluency, confidence, social skills, speech and language, depression, anxiety, attitude, attendance, grief and loss issues, and more.Contributions make it possible for our organization to serve as many schools as possible, to assist the therapy dogs and handlers in their work, and to increase awareness about the many benefits of animal-assisted therapy.
