About Bradford Shellhammer
With a career dedicated to building and scaling dynamic marketplaces and enthusiast retailers, I bring a founder\'s spirit and a bias for execution to ignite growth in matrixed organizations. I\'ve helped iconic brands thrive by recruiting and empowering diverse global talent, and I am equally comfortable with hands-on work and setting long-term vision.Currently, I lead marketing, product, logistics, and customer support at 1stDibs, the iconic design marketplace. Previously, as CPO and CMO of Rent the Runway, I oversaw product, marketing, customer support, analytics, design, and production, jumpstarting growth to record subscriber numbers and lowest post-COVID churn. Before that, I was CPO of Reverb (then an Etsy subsidiary), the largest musical instrument marketplace, leading product and key marketing functions (paid, lifecycle, brand), where we took market share year over year during my tenure. At eBay, I led the global Buyer Experience product organization and eBay for Charity, which raised over $1 billion. During my run at eBay, our product improvements contributed to billions in incremental sales and helped achieve over $90B in transactions for many consecutive years. I also shaped eBay’s personalized shopping algorithms, mobile strategy, and provided creative direction for visual design, marketing content, UX, UI, and curation. My global team included US hubs and a localized product group in France, Italy, Spain, UK, Israel, Germany, and Australia.I am an expert in scaling marketplaces, product development, personalization, brand development, creative and design direction, and authentic storytelling. My diverse experience includes founding three start-ups (Fab.com, Bezar, Queerty), serving as Chief Design Officer at Backcountry.com, and holding roles as CPO, Chief Creative Officer, CMO, and CEO. Recognized as one of Fast Company’s ‘100 Most Creative People in Business,’ and coined the ‘King of Quirk’ by Forbes and the ‘Eames of E-Commerce’ by Wired, I have also won 3 Webbys. I advise several start-ups, and in my free time, I enjoy pickling veggies from my garden and continually redesigning my homes (way too often!).
