WORK HISTORY
Graduate Research Assistant @The University of Tulsa
Tulsa, OK, US
While pursuing my PhD, I developed a robotic tool that helps Physical and Occupational Therapists treat children with special needs by crafting a robot that supports the weight of the head, which led to a patent application being file. To complete this project, I- Manufactured and programmed (Arduino, Embedded C) a load cell adapter to measure forces applied to a head support by users- Completed a 16-week longitudinal study observing the forces applied passive head support- Programmed data visualization and analysis tools in Mathematica and MATLAB- Performed motion capture analysis (Vicon Nexus) on healthy subjects and children with special needs- Conducted a failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) to define technical specifications for a robotic solution- Conceptualized an Adaptive Robotic Head Support (patent pending)- Designed mechanical & electrical components using SolidWorks- Mentored an undergraduate student in mechanical design, manufacturing, & assembly of the robot- Fabricated hardware with manual/CNC mills, lathes, laser cutters, waterjet, & 3D printing- Developed firmware (Embedded C) on Texas Instruments microcontrollers to operate PWMs that commutate a brushless DC motor- Designed & conducted safety/functionality tests by integrating sensors into typical or extreme scenarios with the patient group- Assessed system performance with data processing, analysis, and visualization (MATLAB)- Evaluated clinical outcomes of powered head supports with a PRISMA systematic review & meta-analysis - Established clinical & engineering performance metrics used in research and therapy to assess head-neck support effectiveness- Authored an FDA IDE application and IRB protocols for first-in-human testing, ensuring regulatory compliance- Collaborated with healthcare professionals during each phase to execute plans testing integrity, comfort, and usability
