ABOUT BRADFORD HILL
During my time in the USAF Tactical Air Control Party, I traveled to over 18 different countries, absorbing different cultures and exploring wonderful absurdities at every turn. As a certified Joint Terminal Attack Controller, I was tasked out to various Special Operations Forces teams (namely Army Rangers and Green Berets). During combat operations, it was my duty to call in airstrikes and other explosive ordinance within close proximity to friendly forces. The job required coordination and communication in a high stakes environment. It was a time critical mission that allowed room for zero error and strenuous amounts of data collection—but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. After leaving the service in 2009, I continued my education in the field of Applied Sciences, before accepting an instructing position for the Department of Defense. During that period, I was able to hone my skills as an instructor and conduit for critical information, while I helped train hundreds of soldiers, sailors, and airmen on the emergency application of close air support during exigent circumstances. After the contract dissolved, I rededicated myself to finishing my degree, but this time pursuing my original passion—writing. I received the annual Arts and Educational Merit scholarship to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012. During my time at SCAD, I published several articles and stories, performed numerous live readings, served as managing editor for the schools online paper, and won inter-disciplinary design contests. I graduated in 2014 with Magna Cum Laude honors. I later attended Johns Hopkins University to study for my Masters degree in Writing, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2018. While studying at Hopkins, I also worked with the Writing Outside the Fence program as a guest lecturer and teacher.
