I am a government enforcement and investigations attorney, working nationwide from my home base in Birmingham, Alabama. I defend clients in government investigations, litigation and white collar matters, including those brought under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, FIRREA or otherwise alleging health care fraud and abuse or financial/mortgage fraud. I have represented institutional health care providers, physician practices, financial institutions, pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device manufacturers and government contractors through investigations by government agencies including the Department of Justice, the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Food and Drug Administration. I also conduct confidential internal investigations concerning, among other things, health care provider compliance with federal and state governmental program requirements, mortgage servicing compliance with FHA and GSE requirements, financial accounting issues, pharmaceutical and medical device promotional and manufacturing practices, off-label promotion, anti-kickback issues, and pricing/reimbursement issues.
