CATERed Ltd (Company No: 93•••12) is a unique schools-led cooperative company jointly owned by schools and Plymouth City Council serving great tasting, freshly prepared food to children and young people each every day across the City.Infant, Junior, Primary & Special Schools and Academies are shareholders with the Council and the uniqueness of CATERed is that all schools work collectively, collaboratively and cooperatively to share budgets and income for the greater good of all pupils across the City to ensure all have access to affordable, seasonal, locally sourced school food delivered in a sustainable way. A real first in the country.Fully endorsing the School Food Standards we work with our shareholders to maximise efficiencies, economies of scale and ensure increasing take-up of school lunches. This academic year our forecasted meals served have increased by 1m.An important aspect of our work is to embed the school food service within the school day and support schools with curriculum links and information to parents and carers about the health and educational and attainment benefits of a good, healthy, balanced diet as well as making choices and the social aspect of lunchtimes.Working with schools, pupils and their families and public health professionals to support community based education, food and cooking skills to promote and improve the health and well-being across the city.CATERed Ltd also provides community meals to elderly and vulnerable citizens, food for a growing number of nursery settings and also to secondary academies as well as consultancy and advisory services.
