ABOUT BRAD MOYLE
The work of an educational leader has never been more complex than it is today. Increasingly, the challenges faced by school leaders are cases of first instance driven by rapid technological and societal changes. My approach to leadership is therefore based on a set of values that allow me to adapt to changing circumstances and respond effectively to novel situations. These values also guide me as I envision the future of education and how to best serve student learning.Like learning, leadership is fundamentally an activity rooted in a sense of service to others. As a leader, I seek opportunities to dig into and tackle difficult challenges and thereby inspire others to do the same. Finding ways to serve those around me while enabling them to reach their potential has allowed me to successfully lead teams of faculty and staff in a range of settings. It is my goal as a leader to create an environment where diverse professional talent can thrive for the benefit of all. This will allow schools to become places where each person can experience the feeling of genuinely mattering. I am continually learning and educating myself on issues and skills relevant to building a more pluralistic school and world, and I model what it means to be a learning leader as it relates to pluralism.Fostering strong relationships within a school community is key to building a culture that allows each student and employee to thrive. Knowing each individual, to the best of my ability, allows me as a leader to support their individual goals and ensure they are well supported in their daily work. When I am in a leadership role, everyone on my team knows that I have their interests at the forefront of my decision making process. As an experienced IB educator in several Canadian and international contexts, I model what it means to be a lifelong learner. The culture of the IB Program is based on inquiry and knowledge, and I embody the deep thinking that we seek to foster in IB students. I seek opportunities to build my skills and learn in any area that will help better my community. As a leader, I strive to demonstrate mental clarity and sound judgement stemming from emotional awareness and control. I am able to make difficult and complex decisions and get them right often. I seek to be guided by experts but do not outsource decisions to experts. I embody personal humility, self-knowledge, and the ability to learn in all interactions.
