ABOUT BRAD FIGEL
Brad Figel is a retired Government Relations executive who is now dedicating his time and focus to how businesses can constructively advocate for political moderation and responsibility. Figel joined Mars Incorporated as its Vice President of Public Affairs – North America in January 2011. In this capacity Figel led and managed Mars’ Public Affairs team in the region. As of January 1, 2022, Figel was Senior Counsel - Corporate Public Affairs. He retired from Mars in 2023. Prior to joining Mars, Figel was from 1995 to 2010, Nike’s Global Director of Government and Public Affairs, and from 1986 to 1995, Figel was Chief International Trade Counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Finance. In his individual capacity, from to 2006, Figel was selected by Washington D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams to serve as a Commissioner on the D.C. Commission for National and Regional Service. He currently sits on several other non-profit boards (Washington Performing Arts, United Nations Foundation\'s Global Leadership Council) and is teaching about government relations on a regular basis to MBA students. Figel received his B.A. in history in 1980 from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. His J.D. was awarded in 1986 from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College, where he was awarded the 1986 Packwood Law Fellowship. In 1978, he studied at Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Figel has traveled extensively throughout Asia, South America, the Middle East, Europe and North America. He is married with two daughters. In his retirement, in addition to driving political moderation Figel will continue to pursue a variety of personal interests long neglected - including cooking, music, travel and teaching.
