Education: Taught courses in interdisciplinary social sciences, anthropology, international studies, cultural studies and visual studies at five Universities exploring dynamics of race, class, gender and sexuality, colonialism, globalization, immigration, religion, California, Europe and the Middle East, and the ethnographic method.• Qualitative Research: Carried out innovative ethnographic research on immigration in Spain resulting in peer-reviewed and popular publications, professional presentations and research grants. Provided training and supervised hundreds of undergraduate research projects. Led applied research teams to evaluate the effectiveness of social programs in social services and police reform. Current research investigates the racialized aesthetics of gentrification/displacement in Oakland• Communications: Led process for non-profit organizations to plan and realize websites and publications, gain local, regional and national media coverage and train communications staff.
