ABOUT NATHAN BOWLES
Nathan completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver—majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics and Canadian Studies. He later went on to complete a Master of Political Management at Carleton University, a one-of-a-kind graduate-level program in applied politics. Since 2018, and simultaneously while completing his master’s, Nathan has been actively working in politics and government—beginning with Liberal members of Parliament and eventually working his way up to senior advisor roles to a handful of Cabinet ministers. Nathan has had the privilege of working on Canada’s climate policy framework as well as on social and tax policy. Nathan’s policy niche is in service policy, specifically in accessing hard-to-reach and underserved populations. Getting government benefits and tax credits into the hands of the people who need them most was a core pillar of his work at both Service Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency. In addition to his passion for public policy, Nathan is also a lifelong student of Parliament. Nathan’s love for Parliament and its debates began in elementary school, where he would watch Question Period and House of Commons committee proceedings for fun. Today, Nathan’s love of Parliament has enabled him to develop the skill set necessary to get difficult work done with members of all parties, reaching out across the aisle to build consensus. That work is continuously ongoing and Nathan has no intention of quitting any time soon.
