My work centres on the following themes: • Plant species, Phase 1 Habitat and National Vegetation Classification (NVC) survey & assessment; • Groundwater Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystem (GWDTE) survey and assessment; • Peat & peatland survey & assessment • Ecological Impact Assessment & Habitat Regulations Appraisal / Appropriate Assessment; • Species & habitat management, mitigation and/or restoration; • Deposition effects on habitats and vegetation; • Statistical and palaeoecological approaches; • Project management; • Environmental education; and • Geographical Information Systems.My training and experience as a botanist and land manager has provided me with the opportunity to contribute to research, policy, planning and environmental education related projects for the academic, public and private sectors at scales ranging from the very local to national; over a variety of time spans, from months, to thousands of years. I also enjoy the opportunity my skill set allows to follow a plan or project from survey, through design, to assessment and mitigation; and to contribute to guidance and training.Clients include: Aberdeen and Stirling Universities; Banks Renewables; Cairngorms National Park Authority; Coriolis Energy, Energiekontor; Energised Environments; Force9 Energy; Forestry Commission; Gamesa; Land Use Consultants; local councils throughout the UK (such as Devon & Torridge, East Dunbartonshire, South Lanarkshire, etc.); Locogen; Mainstream Renewable Power; National Trust; Natural England; Peel Energy; PNE Wind; RWE Innogy; Scottish Natural Heritage; Scottish Countryside Rangers Association; Scottish Environment Protection Agency; Scottish & Southern Electricity; and Wind Prospect; for projects based primarily within the UK but also extending across the North Atlantic region (from the Tyrolean Alps to Greenland).
