About Rani Borkar
I believe in empowering people with technology that makes a game-changing impact on their lives. As president for Azure Hardware Systems and Infrastructure at Microsoft, I lead organizations that architect, invent, and sustain the silicon, platforms, and systems that power Azure, the world’s computer. Together, we aim to make a difference by solving the world’s most challenging problems. To take on those problems, I believe in building a strong community. Just as important as empowering our customers and partners is my belief in the potential of each individual, and that’s why the philosophy of \"mission first, people always\" is close to my heart. I\'ve learned the key to producing great technology is to build close-knit communities where people may continuously learn, grow, and thrive - combining technology assets and engineering talent with the values of collaboration, inclusion, empathy, shared ownership, and mentorship. Currently, I serve on the board for Applied Materials and the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA). Prior to joining Microsoft, I served as the Vice President of OpenPOWER Development at IBM. My career journey in the world of tech began at Intel. Over my 26 year tenure there, I held various senior leadership roles including Corporate Vice President for Intel\'s silicon product development strategy.
