Before Congress, I was editor of my college newspaper and a reporter for my hometown newspaper, The Brownsville Herald. I covered the police, crime and court beat, as well as the political beat for four years. Since I was 11 years old, I wanted to be a reporter. At the age of 12, my mother, who was active in local politics in South Texas, introduced me to them. Since then, my curiosity in the political ring has grown. I enjoy what I do with a true passion. This isn\'t work for me, it\'s having fun! I deliver results every single day. I treat people with respect and dignity and believe the most effective way to lead is by working in the trenches with my peers at all time. I lead by example and set the tone.
