About Boris Thomas
The perspectives that I bring to my work as a psychotherapist and executive coach span multiple disciplines, including law/business, higher education, mental health public policy and, of course, psychology. Always encouraging clients to take a more expansive view of themselves and their circumstances, I help individuals and organizations move forward in ways that are productive and enriching. My former career as an attorney and advocate, in combination with my ability to inhabit and deeply understand the individual experiences of others, coalesced into my current work as a therapist and executive coach. These are two distinct fields, but with important overlap as it relates to my approach and style, which are- Collaborative and client focused - Oriented to the client’s agenda, talents, and unique capacities- Anchored in critical thinking and problem solving skills- Integrative of the client’s history, current needs and future goals- Supportive, yet challenging and growth generative- Directed towards igniting personal and professional aspirationsBecause of my background in the law and business sectors, my psychotherapy practice always has attracted professionals who are focused on career-related challenges and advancement. But, in addition to working with clients dealing with an assortment of circumstantial challenges such as those related to divorce, academic advancement, child-rearing, chronic illness and bereavement, I assist with a wide variety of mental health challenges. As a coach I have helped individuals in finance, law, engineering, entertainment, information technology, higher education, advertising, government, and the not-for-profit sector. Knowing the value of objective data, I administer the Hogan series of personality inventories which promote strategic self awareness through the assessment of core values and motivations, strengths and competencies, and potentially derailing behaviors.
