ABOUT ALEXANDER BONEBAKKER

I didn’t realize it at the time, but obsessively logging distance, elevation, and recovery metrics while training for a few cycling trips in my early 20s was laying the groundwork for my professional calling. After my undergrad, I hesitated. Engineering didn’t feel like the right fit, and I hadn’t grown up with a clear map of possible career paths. Instead of rushing into a decision, I gave myself space to think while traveling around Asia — and rather than backpack, I chose to cycle. After a couple of shorter trips through Vietnam and Cambodia, I set my sights on riding the Friendship Highway from Lhasa to Kathmandu. It was the trip of a lifetime and I fell in love with tracking my health and fitness data along the way. ‍That passion for healthcare analytics carried into my early career in management consulting. I quickly fell into the life sciences practice at my consultancy, and something clicked.I modeled HbA1c levels to assess optimal treatment pathways for diabetes patients and built budget impact models to launch a leading melanoma therapeutic across Europe. That work shaped how I think about applying analytical insight to real-world decisions at scale.Years later while running my own independent consulting practice, I built complementary skills in healthcare analytics: I rapidly quantified market sizes and prioritized investment opportunities for MedDevice corp dev teams🧩 I increasingly wove in code, building dynamic VBA models to determine optimal product launch sequences for ophthalmic products🧪 I went on to found my own analytics platform, PharmaSights, integrating custom datasets with JavaScript-powered dashboards covering the pharma industry🤖 And in more recent years, I began to see the transformative power of AI, mining millions of healthcare datapoints in mere weeks to surface insights that would have previously taken months or even yearsToday at Moderna, I apply this blend of life sciences experience, analytics, and AI at scale — helping teams make faster, more informed decisions in a data-rich and rapidly evolving environment. And on my own time, I still spend time tracking my own health and fitness data, even going as far as having built my own bespoke trackers to incentivize and gamify physical activity with friends. ‍
