Established in 1962 by the California State Legislature, the Port of San Diego represents the cities of Imperial Beach, Chula Vista, Coronado, National City and San Diego. The port was established to manage the San Diego Bay and its waterfront on behalf of the people of the State of California. The President and CEO of the Port of is appointed by the seven members of the Unified Board of Port Commissioners, who represent each of the five member cities. The mission of the port oversees maritime commerce, including cargo and cruise terminals, manage public waterfront areas like parks, hotels, and restaurants, balancing economic development with public access and environmental stewardship, while maintaining the public\'s safety with our cross trained Harbor Police Department (HPD). HPD provides maritime firefighting, alonng with policing of the San Diego Airport and port tidelands.
