ABOUT BOB SCARR

In the summer of 2013, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) Archivist Bob Scarr headed a fundraising Kickstarter campaign with the purpose of saving the organization’s cherished memorabilia. Several of the ASO’s most notable performance recordings were damaged or only available in outdated formats that could not be played. The funds raised by this campaign would pay for the facilities and equipment needed to repair, convert and preserve these historic pieces. The modest, 30-day campaign included informative press releases, website updates and email blasts to donors and key contacts within the community and industry. Within two days, the Kickstarter campaign reached its initial goal of and garnered media coverage both locally and nationally. The campaign brought in over at its conclusion and confirmed that people (staff, seasoned donors, first-time donors) truly believe archives are a treasured resource.
