ABOUT ERIC BOWMAN

I’m the CTO at King, the most successful mobile gaming company in history, now part of Microsoft, and known for iconic games like Candy Crush. In this role, I lead the company’s tech and AI strategies, and run King’s Shared Tech product & engineering organization, where our purpose is to “accelerate the flow of fun to players.”Previously, I served as SVP Engineering and CTO at TomTom (20••••24), spearheading an extensive engineering and product transformation geared toward AI and open-data-driven strategies. Before TomTom, I was VP Digital Foundation at Zalando, overseeing centralized technology investments including infrastructure, data enablement, security, compliance, and shared tech culture. I was also Zalando’s first VP of Engineering, where I introduced Radical Agility, significantly impacting team organization, motivation, and scalable architecture. During my tenure we scaled the tech team 5x to earlier roles include VP Architecture at Gilt Groupe, managing complex systems handling millions of simultaneous users and unique non-functional performance and scale requirements; strategic architect at TomTom; Founder & CTO at startup LooCee; and principal architect for 3’s pioneering 3G Service Delivery Platform.I began my career by leading technical development for The Sims 1.0 franchise, the best-selling PC game ever.Beyond my primary role, I engage in supervisory and advisory work and make occasional, selective angel investments.I strive to be an authentic, visionary leader, leveraging deep expertise in engineering management and strategic transformation. I’m passionate about fostering cultures that unlock creativity, innovation, diversity, inclusivity and continuous learning, enabling teams and organizations to thrive and sustainably deliver outstanding products and experiences. I am an ally.
