I focus on increasing the efficiency, safety, and reliability of transportation systems for all users through intelligent design, advanced planning, and the implementation of ITS technologies, from signal coordination and prioritization to V2V and V2I communications. I’m currently researching engineered systems to evaluate resilient options early in the design process and assess the value of resilience so that it can be considered during analysis by decision makers. This methodology will be applied to highly automated vehicles. The analysis considers both adversarial and environmental threats to the system, and how the system can respond to those threats in the short term, as well as its ability to adapt and respond better to future threats.
