About Bobby Weikle
My interests center on millimeter and submillimeter-wave technology, with an emphasis on device fabrication and processing, characterization, metrology and integration. My group at the University of Virginia researches submillimeter-wave instrumentation and devices, and has led major initiatives on quasi-optical components and architectures for imaging, beam steering and power-combining, development of heterodyne receivers and calibration techniques, and epitaxy transfer processes for fabricating heterogenous systems. This includes Schottky diodes and terahertz integrated circuits fabricated on silicon membranes. With colleagues at the University of Virginia, our team invented and demonstrated the first micromachined wafer probe for measurements beyond 500 GHz in 2011 and beyond 1 THz in 2014.
