Support Emory Healthcare’s Transfusion Service and clinical laboratory operations by performing semi-technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens, blood products, reagents, and quality control materials in a high-volume academic medical center.Receive, verify, register, label, and accession specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), ensuring accuracy of patient demographics, test orders, and specimen tracking.Evaluate specimen acceptability per Emory Healthcare policies and CAP/CLIA standards; initiate corrective actions for unacceptable specimens and document resolutions in the LIS.Process specimens for testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, prioritization, and preparation for in-house testing or referral to reference laboratories.Provide testing support, including preparation of materials, instrument loading, waived and point-of-care testing, and result reporting.Reconcile incomplete or outstanding test orders by reviewing paper requisitions and computerized orders; collaborate with nursing staff, providers, and couriers to resolve discrepancies efficiently.Maintain accurate electronic documentation, daily logs, and specimen chain-of-custody records in compliance with accreditation and organizational requirements.Operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment; assist with validation and implementation of new instruments and workflows.Support laboratory quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives by collecting quality metrics and maintaining compliant documentation.Demonstrate strong informatics aptitude through effective LIS navigation, data reconciliation, and support of accurate result reporting.Adhere strictly to universal precautions, infection control policies, sterile technique, and laboratory safety standards.
