About Bob Vish
I operate at the intersection of SOC modernization, applied AI, and secure real-world deployment.I’m a Global Solutions Architect Leader at Palo Alto Networks with 20+ years of experience in cybersecurity, distributed systems, and large-scale platform architecture. Today, my focus is helping enterprises and Global Systems Integrators design, deploy, operationalize, and secure modern SOC environments and generative / agentic AI systems in production — especially in adversarial, high-stakes contexts. My work centers on the secure deployment of autonomous and semi-autonomous systems. That includes defining agent roles and task boundaries, designing orchestration and escalation logic, implementing guardrails and containment strategies, and building monitoring frameworks that detect drift, misuse, or misalignment. I help organizations determine where AI autonomy creates measurable advantage — and where it introduces unacceptable risk.Much of this happens under real constraints: legacy infrastructure, regulatory scrutiny, imperfect telemetry, and active threat actors. That environment has shaped my bias toward AI systems that are bounded, observable, resilient, and accountable. In parallel, I teach at the graduate level on AI in cybersecurity. Teaching forces precision — how AI systems behave, where they fail, and how to reason clearly about performance, safety, cost, and human oversight. That discipline translates directly into executive advisory work, partner enablement, and board-level conversations. My background spans SOC architecture, detection engineering strategy, platform consolidation, and secure AI pipeline design. Increasingly, my work focuses on helping organizations responsibly operationalize generative and agentic AI — balancing capability with control, speed with safety, and automation with governance.Core areas of expertise:• SOC modernization and AI-augmented detection & response• Secure deployment of generative and agentic AI systems• AI guardrails, safety controls, and adversarial resilience• Partner-led reference architectures across AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments• Executive advisory and technical enablementI am particularly interested in how advanced AI systems transition from prototype to production — and how we ensure they remain trustworthy under real-world pressure.

Global Leader, Ai Cybersecurity Solutions Architecture
May 2018 — Present · US
I lead a team of senior security architects, AI practitioners, and trusted advisors who help Palo Alto Networks’ MSSP, MDR, and Incident Response partners design and operationalize next-generation, AI-enabled security systems. Our work spans enterprise, cloud, OT/IT, ICS, and critical infrastructure environments, with an increasing focus on integrating Applied and Agentic AI into real-world detection, investigation, and response workflows. We work directly with partners to define service architectures, reference designs, and scalable operating models across host, cloud, attack surface management, network telemetry, and automation platforms. Increasingly, this includes the integration of Applied and Agentic AI capabilities into detection, investigation, and response workflows—balancing automation with clear operational boundaries and human oversight. My role is to provide strategic direction, architectural leadership, and long-term vision. I help partners evolve from tool-centric deployments toward unified, integrated systems where security is embedded into the compute stack rather than bolted on after the fact. That shift requires new thinking—moving from fragmented controls to cohesive, telemetry-driven, and increasingly autonomous platforms that operate reliably under adversarial conditions. In parallel, I regularly engage CxO-level executives in Executive Briefing Center and conference settings, advising on OT/IT convergence, cloud and hybrid architectures, attack surface risk, compliance strategy, and the practical realities of deploying AI in high-stakes environments. At its core, my work is about building systems—and teams—that can operate safely, intelligently, and at scale in complex environments.
