About Bob Ernst

I am a passionate leader and team builder, empowering my team to make the best decision for the operation, driving home the importance of safety being first, harnessing the energy and talent of our people so they may perform at their highest level, and we as a team give back to the company and our customers an aircraft they will be excited to be flying on.I began my aviation career in 1984 after graduating with honors from U.S. Air Force Jet Engine Tech School with Pratt Whitney F100 follow on. I was inspired by my transportation shop teacher during my senior year in high school when Mr. Fini introduced me to basic jet engine operation principles; I was in awe and knew exactly what I wanted to do and the rest is history. My engine experience expands from the Pratt Whitney F100-PW-100, 200, 220E, 229, and C117 to the General Electric F110-GE-100 and 129. Developing a GE-F110 difference course for USAF Air Education Training Command was a highlight of my instructor career. I have performed both flex and rigid bore scopes, engine intermediate Maintenance, and line maintenance. I have worked F15C/D at Bitburg, Germany, block 40 F16CG with 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, C130H and C130HC/P with the Alaska Air Guard, the C17 at McChord AFB, and earned T2 Buckeye plane Captain status at Navy Test Pilot School House at Pax River NAS.I have worked a little GA, SAAB 340, Beech 1900D, and the 737 fleet at Alaska Airlines 737-400, 400 combi, 700, 800, 900, and 900ER.I spent two years as a Field Training Detachment (FTD) instructor, the best job ever as a technician and most rewarding, earning my Master Instructor certification, where I taught young Airmen their F16 crew chief skill set, General Electric engine component recognition on and off wing, safe for maintenance task items, and post flight inspection items ensuring they were mission ready upon arriving at first duty station.

Make the best decision possible for the sake of the operation and our customers. If the plane is broke, fine, fix it, if it\'s a good aircraft, fine, lets set a ready time and give it back to the company. Provide a safe, airworthy aircraft to our operation for the sake of our customers who expect nothing less than a good aircraft and to leave on time for their destination. They entrust us with this simple request, and we owe it to them to make it happen.I am charged with setting maintenance priorities, conducting crew/shift briefs concerning safety and compliance along with issues of the day and company updates. With a fleet of 737-700, 800, 900, and 900ER, I work closely with my leads ensuring solid advise and ready times are set for aircraft based on maintenance requirements.I am responsible for up to 45 technicians and moving the operation forward with my team ensuring we provide airworthy aircraft to the operation. Also, I evaluate our new technicians impressing upon them my expectations along with maintenance and company policies and procedures.
