About Bob Brown

Bob Brown is a senior executive with 20+ years experience spanning senior operating roles, investment banking, private equity and venture capital.Bob has a successful track record as a CFO at growth companies backed by leading PE and VC funds, including Andreessen Horowitz, World Innovation Lab, The Vistria Group and others. At PeerStreet (Andreessen-backed fintech marketplace) Bob served on the executive team and reported directly to the CEO. He led finance & accounting ops, built the FP & A team, managed capital, evaluated strategic opportunities and played a lead role in the roll out of new products. Bob also successfully led the company’s $65mm Series C capital raise. During his tenure, PeerStreet increased its headcount by 75% and more than doubled its originations and revenues. At ForwardLine (PE-backed fintech lender), Bob served as CFO where he led finance & accounting ops, built out FP & A, evaluated strategic opportunities, actively managed capital & liquidity and managed relationships with external capital partners. He also helped lead the company through the COVID-19 pandemic by controlling opex, monitoring cash burn and managing relationships with vendors, creditors and equity partners. He helped lead the company’s successful recapitalization and return to lending.Bob also served as SVP at B Capital Group, a $6bn VC fund founded by Eduardo Saverin (co-founder at Facebook) and Raj Ganguly (former BCG partner) specializing in global investing in venture and growth stage companies. Responsibilities included fund-level financial ops, liquidity, fund construction, reserves, funding and deal execution. Bob also co-led the creation of a $200mm continuation vehicle which enabled B Capital to sell minority stakes in its top Fund I portfolio companies. Responsibilities included structuring, valuation, diligence, negotiations and closing.Bob had an 18-year career as a senior investment banker at firms such as Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and FBR. He has an extensive track record raising public and private capital, lead managing IPOs, executing strategic M&A and advising C-level executives and boards of directors on a range of transactions. He executed some of the most prominent deals in the sector, including advising Countrywide on its sale to Bank of America during the 2009 Financial Crisis.Bob holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (concentrations in Finance & Entrepreneurship) and a BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California. He\'s a former CPA having worked at PwC.
